A sleeping lion was surprised awake by a mouse on his paw. The lion grabbed the mouse for a quick snack but the mouse started pleading to be spared.
“Please don’t eat me!” said the mouse. “If you’ll spare my life, I will find a way to repay your kindness one day.”
The lion was amused at the thought of a mouse being able to help him in any way, so he let the mouse go.
The next day the lion was caught in a net, a trap in the jungle. He roared his displeasure and fear. The mouse heard him and ran to help. That little mouse chewed through enough of the net to set the lion free.
And so the lion and the mouse lived in peace, showing kindness is never wasted.
