People in general prefer paintings of animals that live in their area. So I try to paint local animals. That is complicated by how far I travel- currently from FL to PA- for art festivals. My solution is to lean heavily on story creatures, farms animals, and migratory birds.
I especially love the vibrantly colored large birds! Fun fact, one of my daughters is an animal lover who has rescued at least 9 birds. My home often had birds in it that she was nursing back to health.
I made 2 possible companions to this painting, on similar backgrounds. The other 2 are listed separately as a Sandhill Crane and a Tri-Colored Heron.
