In this painting, the bubbles represent happiness. My understanding of happiness is that it is momentary, like colorful delicate bubbles. Happiness and joy are different, as joy does not depend on circumstances and is rooted in our hearts. Happiness is changeable, depending on what is currently happening. For instance, when we have recently lost a loved one, we probably won’t feel our usual happiness, laughter or lightness, for a while. But we can still feel the deep down joy of having known and loved that person and in treasuring the memories of them.
